UMI Encourages Lecturers to Get Global Research Grants, Lecturers Zoom Together to Participate in International Proposal Socialization
LP2S_UMI_Makassar. Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to increasing research competitiveness at the global level. A total of 35 UMI research lecturers from various fields of science took part in the International Grant Proposal Writing Socialization activity which was carried out online via Zoom and attended together in one room.
This activity is part of the program of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology through the Directorate General of Research and Development, especially the Directorate of Research and Development Talent Development. Within UMI, this activity is coordinated by LP2S UMI with full support from the Chancellor of UMI.
This socialization aims to provide understanding and effective tricks to lecturers regarding international research funding opportunities, the basic principles of writing competitive proposals, as well as strategies for preparing proposals according to the standards of global funding institutions.
In line with these efforts, this year LP2S UMI also offers an international research scheme with internal funding specifically intended for active UMI lecturers. This program is a strategic step in facilitating lecturers to develop international standard research.
UMI Deputy Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Ir. Andi Dirgahayu Lantara, M.T., IPU., said that this internal funding program is expected to be a bridge for lecturers to improve the quality of proposals so that they are worthy of competing at the global level. "We want to ensure that UMI lecturers have room to continue to develop and not stop just because of limited external funding," he said.
Secretary of LP2S UMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Andi Aladin, M.T., emphasized the importance of lecturers' readiness in facing international grant competitions. "We encourage lecturers to start preparing draft international research proposals and submit them to the Ministry of Higher Education for funding. However, if they have not been successful in obtaining external funding, these proposals can still be submitted through the UMI internal funding scheme that we have prepared," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the UMI LP2S Research Center, Prof. Dr. Andi Asrina, M.Kes., reminded that LP2S has opened registration for internal research proposals, including international research schemes. "We are giving one month for lecturers to submit proposals, with the deadline for registration on May 6 2026," he explained.
The enthusiasm of the participants can be seen from the activeness of the lecturers in taking part in this activity. It is hoped that through the socialization and support of this internal funding scheme, UMI lecturers will be more ready to compete in obtaining international grants and contribute to the development of science and increase the nation's competitiveness at the global level.
