Makassar, 18 July 2026– Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) through the Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) officially openedBasic Skills Improvement Training in Instructional Techniques (PEKERTI) Class 55 of 2026which will be held online startingJuly 18 to 25, 2026.
The opening activity began with remarks from the Chairman of LP2S UMI,Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Hattah Fattah, M.S., who expressed his appreciation to all participants for their trust in choosing UMI as the organizer of PEKERTI Training. He emphasized that UMI continues to be committed to being a professional, superior and trusted training provider, and continues to improve the quality of implementation in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
In his report, Prof. Hattah Pattah said that the PEKERTI Class 55 training was attended by185 participantswhich comes from105 universitiesspread across28 provincesin Indonesia. During the seven days of implementation, participants will follow a series of materials that have been adapted to the national PEKERTI curriculum and developed to support the innovative learning ecosystem in higher education.
Furthermore, he explained that this training was directed at producing three main achievements, namely the participants' ability to composeSemester Learning Plan (RPS) is based on learning outcomes, carry outmicroteachingwith appropriate learning methods, as well as doinglearning assessmenteffectively. This competency is an important part of strengthening lecturers' pedagogical competence and is also one of the requirements in applying for lecturer certification.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the Indonesian Muslim University,Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Talib, S.H., M.H., in his speech and officially opening the training, said that the mandate given by the government to UMI as the organizer of PEKERTI is a form of trust that must continue to be maintained through providing quality training. According to him, not all universities have the opportunity to become PEKERTI organizers so this trust is a matter of pride and responsibility for UMI.
The Chancellor also invited all participants to make maximum use of this training opportunity. He emphasized that PEKERTI not only aims to improve basic teaching skills, but also strengthens the professionalism of lecturers in designing, implementing and evaluating the learning process. Apart from that, this training has strategic value because it is one of the requirements in the process of obtaining Lecturer Certification (Serdos).
Ending his speech, Prof. Hambali Talib expressed his appreciation to all resource persons, instructors, committee members and participants for their participation in making this activity a success. He hopes that the entire series of training can run smoothly and have a real impact in improving the quality of learning in higher education, so that lecturers are able to produce learning processes that are more innovative, effective and oriented towards student learning outcomes.
