Chairman of LP2S UMI Opens Field Visit to the Intellectual Property Center of the Ministry of Law, South Sulawesi

Makassar, 12 August 2026— The Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) received a field visit from the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law in the context of carrying out examinations and gathering information related to the management of Intellectual Property (KI) in the tertiary environment.

The activity which took place on Wednesday, August 12 2026, at the Indonesian Muslim University was officially opened byHead of LP2S UMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammadhattah Fattah, M.S.This activity was one of the field visit agendas in the context of examining Intellectual Property services at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law, South Sulawesi.

In his speech, the Chairman of LP2S UMI expressed his appreciation for the visit and attention of the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law to the management of Intellectual Property in the tertiary environment. According to him, strengthening IP management is an important part of supporting research productivity, innovation, and downstreaming of the academic work of UMI's academic community.

This field visit also provided momentum to strengthen coordination between the Indonesian Muslim University and the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law, especially in improving understanding and governance of Intellectual Property services.

Based on the letter from the Head of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Law Regional Office Number W.23-KI.02.03-235 dated 7 August 2026, the field visit was carried out as one of the inspection agendas related to Intellectual Property services. In this activity, universities are asked to prepare data on applications and management of Intellectual Property and present applicant representatives to provide information regarding IP applications.

Through this activity, it is hoped that the management of Intellectual Property at the Indonesian Muslim University will be more organized, effective, and able to provide optimal support for the protection and utilization of research results and innovations of the academic community.

The field visit activities took place with full coordination and synergy between the Indonesian Muslim University and the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law as part of a joint effort to strengthen the Intellectual Property ecosystem in higher education.
