Malang, 12 September 2025 – The Institute for Research, Development and Community Service (LP2S) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) made a strategic visit to the Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) in order to strengthen research governance. This visit is an important momentum to exchange experiences, explore effective work systems, and build future collaboration.
In this warm and productive meeting, the UMI LP2S team was welcomed directly by the leadership of the UMM Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM). UMM explained comprehensively how they manage research and service activities systematically, starting from program planning, proposal management, to utilizing research results for community empowerment.
One of the points that is of particular concern to LP2S UMI is UMM's strategy in encouraging lecturers to actively research. UMM utilizes achievement-based incentives, intensive mentoring for young lecturers, and provides a digital platform that makes administration and reporting processes easier. Apart from that, UMM also has a superior program in the form of research incubation which encourages applied research and has a direct impact on society.
"We are very impressed with the system that UMM has built. Their approach is not only structural, but also cultural—building a healthy and collaborative research atmosphere among lecturers," said the Head of LP2S UMI
"Collaboration between Islamic universities like this is important to strengthen each other. We hope that from this visit many joint initiatives will emerge in the future," concluded (Prof. Baharuddin Semmaila, S.E., M.Si).
