UMI Invites Impactful Research,Director of Interest, Science and Technology, Peel BESTARI
Makassar, 10 April 2026 — Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) through the Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) continues to strengthen its commitment to encouraging research that has real impacts. This is marked by the implementation of activitiesSocialization of the BESTARI Science and Technology Program and Research Impactwhich presented directly the Director of Dissemination and Utilization of Science and Technology (INTERESTS SCIENCE AND TECH) Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
The activity which took place in the hall on the 5th floor of the UMI tower building presented Prof. Dr. Eng. Yudi Darma, S.Si., M.Sc. as the main resource person, accompanied by Yoggi Herdani as Chair of the Team for Strengthening the Utilization and Impact of Science and Technology / PMO LPDP Program Collaboration.
In his speech, the Chancellor of UMI emphasized the importance of transforming the direction of national research which is now no longer oriented solely on publications, but on real impacts on society and industry.
“The research paradigm has shifted from mere publications to research that has real impact. The BESTARI Saintek program is very strategic in building a collaborative and sustainable research ecosystem"said the Chancellor of UMI.
Meanwhile, Plt. The Chair of LP2S UMI highlighted the important momentum of this activity which coincided with the announcement of the results of DPPM Dikti research funding.
"We congratulate the lecturers who have passed the funding. For those who have not, there are no failed proposals - there are only pending qualifications. In fact, other opportunities are open through the research dissemination and utilization program which today was explained directly by the Director,"he said.
Furthermore, the Chancellor of UMI added that the direct presence of the Director of Science and Technology was a strategic opportunity for UMI lecturers to understand in more depth various funding schemes and strengthen the impact of research, including the BESTARI Science and Technology Program.
Through this activity, the resource person emphasized that the criteria for researchers in the Bestari program do not question the rank/position of lecturers, expert assistants and professors who can apply for this research scheme. Likewise, it doesn't matter about journal output targets or patents, but focuses more on outcomes, namely the real impact on society.
For this reason, UMI emphasizes its commitment to continue to present research that is not only academically superior, but also relevant, applicable and has a real impact on national development.
