There is one important thing that we often fail to realize: research is not just about writing reports or eliminating administrative obligations. Research is the pulse of the university, the heart that pumps ideas, innovation and real benefits for society.

Based on the official letter from the Director of DPPM Kemdiktisaintek No. 1020/C3/DT.05.00/2025dated September 15, 2025,Institute for Research & Development of Resources (LP2S) Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) MakassaronThursday, October 2, 2025organizeMonitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of Internal Research for Fiscal Year 2025.
In this activity, 52 research titles from UMI lecturers funded by the Ministry of Education and Technology's DPPM were presented, consisting of:
• 7 Master's Thesis Research titles
• 35 Regular Fundamental Research titles
• 6 Applied Research titles – Model Outcomes
• 4 Applied Research titles – Prototype Output

Monev is not done half-heartedly. There are two forms of approach taken: offline presentation/discussion, and direct field visits to the research object. In this way, reviewers not only hear the narrative, but also witness the reality of the research being carried out.

More than just a procedure,This monitoring and evaluation is a reflection space.Researchers are invited to review the extent to which research promises have been realized: from the achievement of mandatory outcomes, the suitability of the research with the initial proposal, to the potential sustainability of the results. In fact, more technical aspects such asTKT Level (Technology Readiness Level), budget absorption, and partner contributions in applied research are also in the spotlight.
To maintain quality,10 reviewersinvolved—consisting of4 national reviewersand6 certified internal reviewers. Their presence is not to "judge", but rather to be critical partners who provide constructive feedback. The Monev event was opened by the Chair of LP2S UMI, Prof. Baharuddin Semaila, SE, while the reviewer's perception and technical explanation of the Monev implementation were delivered by Prof. Andi Aladin, MT, who is also a National Reviewer for DPPM DIKTI.

In the end, the essence of Monev is not just about pursuing administrative completeness. He isencouragement, confirms that good research is not only done on paper, but can penetrate laboratories, society and industry.

Monev is the bridge that ensures that UMI lecturers' research actually reaches the end of the road:real benefits for the nation.
