In an effort to increase the quality and quantity of research for UMI Lecturers, the UMI Research and Resource Development Institute (LP2S) carried out Research Proposal Assistance for UMI Permanent Lecturers (24/1).
This activity was attended by 50 UMI lecturers which took place at the Singgasana Hotel with guest speakers Prof.Dr. Ir. Lili Warly, M.Sc.,, MP3EI Sulawesi Corridor Research Coordinator who is also the Decentralized Research Coordinator for Ditilitabmas Dikti.
Starting the presentation of Prof. Dr.'s proposal assistance. Ir. Lili Warly, M.Sc., said that the UMI academic community should be proud, because UMI is the only private university in the Sulawesi region that has been given the trust of the government, in this case Dikti, with the decentralization of higher education research in the Intermediate category in the Kopertis IX Sulawesi area.
The policy of the Directorate General of Higher Education to decentralize research activities in higher education is a logical consequence of strategic policy to achieve the main goal, namely the establishment of a Directorate General of Higher Education system that is able to carry out its duties and functions effectively and efficiently as a facilitator, strengthener and empowerer in the development of higher education in Indonesia.
He continued to say, from the distribution of HEIs in the Kopertis area, there were still not enough PTS to be found in the field of research, in fact some Kopertis, such as Kopertis wil, were not found. III, and so on. Therefore, the selection of UMI as a research center with the Intermediate category is an achievement and the government's appreciation for seeing the development of research proposed by UMI every year increasing and of high quality.
Why does research need to be carried out by a lecturer, because substantively lecturers who often carry out research will substantively increase intellectual capacity and improve the quality of teaching materials and the application of science and technology in the context of modernization/madization of society.
Meanwhile, Chair of the UMI Resource Research and Development Institute (LP2S), Prof.Dr. H. Ma'ruf Hafidz, SH., MH said that research is the main task of lecturers apart from teaching and providing community service. As stated in National Education System Law No., 20 of 2003, the duties of lecturers are to teach, research and provide community service.
"Thank God, in 2013 there was an increase in research passes submitted by UMI lecturers," he said.
