UMI Makassar – UMI Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) in collaboration with the Health Research Ethics Commission, Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS, held training on the Basics of Health Research Ethics for UMI Lecturers, in the LP2S meeting room, UMI Tower Building, 3rd floor, Thursday 11 June 2015.
This activity lasted one day, opened by the Chancellor of UMI Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, MA, attended by 30 permanent UMI lecturers.
UMI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, MA in her speech said, when conducting research, ethical aspects must be considered and prioritized in the research process, because if these ethical aspects are not adhered to, it will have a negative impact on the results obtained.
"If a researcher ignores aspects of honesty and is not objective in the research process, then the research results will be in vain," he said.
It was also said that this training is very important for researchers, so that when conducting research there are guidelines that must be taken into account, namely ethics, so that it does not cause problems and have a negative impact on the clarity of the research results.
"Research must be carried out professionally, honestly and morally, because research results are objective results and contain truth. If it is not carried out on an ethical basis," he said.
Chair of the UMI Resource Research and Development Institute (LP2S) Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Talib, SH, MH in his report said that scientific developments based on research continue to grow, therefore researchers are required to understand research ethics for both human subjects and animal subjects. The problem of ethical dilemmas that occur in the field of health research has become a momentum to look at human rights, animal welfare rights and others, so that the Basics of Health Research Ethics training can provide an overview of the treatment of subjects in research.
In addition, this training aims to increase participants' knowledge and understanding of various aspects and ethical standards of health research.
