Makassar, umi.ac.id – The Institute for Research & Resource Development (LP2S) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) held a hybrid Launching and Socialization of the Integrative Research Information & Control Facility (FIKIR) Application on Wednesday (04/06/2025).

The launch was held in the 3rd Floor Hall of the UMI Tower directly by the Chancellor of UMI, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Talib, SH., MH. accompanied by the Head of LP2S UMI Prof. Dr. H. Baharuddin Semmaila, SE., M.Sc.

UMI Chancellor Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Talib, SH., MH. In his speech, he said that the FIKIR application would be the main platform for all research activities managed by LP2S UMI.

"The extraordinary achievements achieved by LP2S UMI, especially with UMI lecturers who received the highest research grant funds within the scope of LLDIKTI Region IX, show great potential in developing research at this university," said Prof. Hambali.

Furthermore, the UMI Law Faculty Professor emphasized the importance of research as one of the main supports in applying for academic promotion, especially for lecturers who propose the title of Professor. Therefore, it is hoped that LP2S will not only be a research forum, but also actively carry out outreach and training on the use of the FIKIR application to all UMI lecturers.

"Thank you to the chairman of LP2S UMI and the team who have followed the dynamics of development, especially in the use of technology. Hopefully this is the first step in developing UMI into a Smart University," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of LP2S UMI Prof. Dr. H. Baharuddin Semmaila, SE., M.Sc. in his report stated that the Fikir application is an integrated digital system developed by LP2S UMI which is specifically designed to support the management and monitoring of research activities efficiently and transparently.

"The Fikir application is used to support the management and monitoring of the implementation of research activities efficiently and transparently," he explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Baharuddin explained that the main features of the FIKIR application include facilitating the process of submitting, evaluating and approving lecturers' research proposals, as well as monitoring the progress of research implementation, progress reports and the output produced.

"With this integrated system, the FIKIR application supports administrative and substantive transparency and accountability, while uniting all stages of research in one platform that is easy to monitor," he said.

The FEB UMI alumnus also mentioned that the Fikir application supports transparency and accountability administratively and substantively and integrates various stages of research in one traceable system, he said.

Secretary of LP2S UMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. A Aladin, MS added that this fikir application has been used in proposals since May 30 2025 and thank God, this year there are 50 research titles which exceed the number of titles last year with 32 titles with achievements ranked 5th nationally in recipients of research funding grants,

The launch of the Fikir Application was attended by the head of the UMI YW Program Division as well as the person in charge of YW-UMI IT and all UMI Lecturers, UMI Vice Chancellors, Deans and heads of Institutions within the UMI scope, as well as the Head of the UMI LP2S Center.
