Makassar  18 May 2026 — The Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) again held the Basic Skills Improvement Training for Instructional Techniques (PEKERTI) Batch 54 which was attended by hundreds of lecturers from various universities in Indonesia, Monday.

The opening activity took place solemnly and was opened directly by the Chair of LP2S UMI, Prof. Dr. H. Baharuddin Semmaila. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to all participants and committee who had supported the implementation of this training.

Also present at this activity were the Head of the SAMSE Activity Development Center, the Head of the Research Center, the Head of the Center for Intellectual Property Rights, instructors, as well as participants from various universities in Indonesia.

In his speech, Prof. Baharuddin Semmaila said that implementing PEKERTI was an important part of strengthening the capacity of lecturers, especially in developing learning competencies and instructional design in higher education.

"It is hoped that this training will be able to improve lecturers' abilities in designing learning processes that are more effective, innovative and oriented towards graduate learning outcomes," he said.

The PEKERTI Batch 54 training was attended by around 150 participants from dozens of universities in various regions of Indonesia, especially Eastern Indonesia. The activity will last for seven days by presenting a number of experienced instructors and resource persons in the fields of higher education and instructional design.

Apart from discussing basic instructional techniques, participants will also receive material related to Outcome Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum development, active learning strategies, learning evaluation, and strengthening the higher education ecosystem.

Prof. Baharuddin also hopes that the participants can implement the results of the training in their respective institutions so that they can improve the quality of learning in higher education.

"Through this PEKERTI activity, lecturers are expected to become more professional and adaptive to developments in the world of higher education," he added.

The opening activity closed with the reading of a joint prayer and an official statement on the opening of PEKERTI Class 54 Training by the Head of LP2S UMI.
