Makassar, umi.ac.id – The Institute for Research and Development of Resources (LP2S) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) conducted Benchmarking at the Intellectual Property office of the University of Indonesia (UI) on Monday, 13 May 2024.

This activity, which was packaged in the form of sharing, took place in the UI DISTP Building, ILRC (Integrated Laboratory Research Center) building, UI Depok campus.

This benchmarking was attended by the Chair of LP2S UMI Prof. Dr. H. Baharuddin Semmaila, Secretary of LP2S UMI Prof. Dr. Ir. Andi Aladin, IPM., Eng, and Head of the LP2S IPR Center Dr Nurmiati Muchlis, SKM., M.Kes and head of the UM LP2S Research Center Dr. Ir. Scientific, M.Sc.

Prof. Baharuddin Semmaila, revealed that the aim of this benchmarking activity was to improve the quality of management of the UMI LP2S IPR center.

"It is hoped that the research output will not only be in the form of documents. Not only in the form of monuments, but more in the form of downstreaming and commercialization," he explained.

Apart from that, said the former Director of the UMI Postgraduate Program, the useful value of intellectual property can at least be a social innovation in society.

"It is hoped that by sharing experiences and performance of Intellectual Property, the management of Intellectual Property at UMI can be better," he explained.

Meanwhile, Dr. Krisnayanto, SH., MH as Head of the Sub-Directorate of Intellectual Property and Promotion at DISTP UI, explained that the first step in organizing an IP center requires an intellectual property management regulation.

These regulations may be in the form of Chancellor's regulations. "With clear rules, institutionally management will be easier," he concluded.
